4.9L engine -- 5W30 oil, capacity-5.7l with filter 5L engine --5W30 oil, capacity-5.7l with filter 5.8L engine -- 5W30 oil, capacity-5.7l with filter this info is for 1980, but a year older, shouldn't make a difference.. http://www.amsoil.com/mygarage/vehiclelookup.aspx?url2=1980+FORD%20TRUCKS+F150%20PICKUP+G&metric=True

The 1979 Ford 4.9 / 300 6 cylinder recommend oil is 10W-30 or 10W-40 check the manual also if you have the HD (includes steel crankshaft and forged pistons) version of the engine the capacity is increased to 7 qts
