Bought a new distrubutor replaced on truck but still not running .. why?
Ive replaced the new distributor and still not running.. it cranks but it don't start ,,
cant it be that its not on correct .. or what else can be the issue? thanks any
Did you line it up correctly when installing the new one? Rotor lined up in the same position?
Yes I did ...If its not that would prevent it from starting?
Many things need checking. Are you getting fire to the plugs (spark)? Then there is gas, to little or too much. Then air. Then there is the possibility the engine jumped "time". Stretched timing chain could account for this. In the "olden days" I'd remove the number one plug and rotate the engine manually until the cylinder is all the way up (top dead center). Then check the marks on the flywheel with the pointer to see if it's close. Did it just stop running, or did it progressively get worse.
Was the truck running before you replaced the distributor?
I would reset your timing Take out a spark plug and put ur finger in the hole and have some one try to start then it is done.
no the truck was not running
