cAN YOU TAKE THE AC COMPRESSOR OFF WITHOUT REPLACING IT
The air compressor is causing aloud clicking sound due to the bearings, could I take the compressor off and not replace it.
I don't know of any reason whay not. I have taken alot of them off of Camaros and some other cars. Never off of a Vette. But that I know of there is no reason that you can't. You will however have to re-route your serpentine belt, and that means you will probably have to use a shorter one. It may take some experimenting. But the answer is yes you can. Good luck let us all know how it turns out. :) Terry
If the bearings are out on the pulley assembly, you can replace the clutch and coil seperately from the compressor to fix it. unless you would rather go without a/c, you can remove the compressor and it wont hurt a thing. Depending on the year and engine you may not need to have the belt on the car at all. Some a/c belts only run the compressor and nothing else.
iam pretty sure they make a ac delete wheel that fits in the same bracket as the compressor
go to your local parts place and ask for an a/c deleat kit i should come with a pully that will bolt in the same spot as your compresser and use the same factory belt but the part will mor than likely have to be ordered in
