Chevy 350 engine not starting

I have a 87 monte carlo that has a 350
smallblock in it but it wont start i had it
turning over then it stopped now when you
turn the key it does nothing it was getting
fuel and spark put in new spark plugs and
installed a new ignition lock cylinder could it
be a starter issue also put in a brand new
batter

See if when you turn the key the slider on the ignition switch moves. Sounds like the rack and sector assembly has broken. HTH. -Jim
