My monte carlo is a barrel v8. I have a problem, when i start it and it is idling it runs fine but when i go to put it in drive and try to run it it pops at the catylytic converter and it back fires and turns off and then it is hard to turn on. I have changed oil,oil filter, fuel pump, rubber hoses coming from carb, plugs and wires, distrubitor cap and rotor, fuel filter, and rebuilt carberator. I need help timing is adjusted as well.
all has been changed that I think is the problem do you guys think the catalityc converter is bad or a timing issue?
Dear Carlos72-- I think you have a timing problem with your 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. For self-help look at what may be the way to cure your problem, I recommend the following site-- http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/11/b7/64/0900823d8011b764.jsp. Good luck from Bovan.
