Starting car sitting 3 years

Asked by Aug 03, 2016 at 03:28 PM about the 1979 Chevrolet Impala

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 79 Impala sitting about 3 years.  Sta-bil fuel stabilizer was added to the tank a year or so before that.   Would the car be ok to start or would the tank still need to be drained?

StaBil is only good for about a season before it breaks down in it's ability to maintain the quality of fuel, so yes I would drain out as much as possible.

Just I would run the old gas with some seafoam in it. Don't drive anywhere just let it cycle through
