Are you talking about the L-88 427 ci engine? There are sites on line you can go to to check the 1966 Corvette and get all the stats on builds, engines, and numbers made. Also check out the vin as it will tell you the engine that was placed in the car. If you are looking at the car to buy, be very weary of someone not too keen on that engine. Take the vin to you local chevy dealership and go to the parts department and they should be able to look up the vin, and if you have the engine number, take it in also. Some rare engines have three carbs, but the racing L-88 has alum. heads. The engine itself is worth a lot of big bucks. The 427 -390 HP had 5,116 made, and the 427- 425 HP had 5,528 made. Serial Numbers: 194376S100001 through 194376S127720 For convertibles, the fourth digit will be a 6. The first 427 L-88 was produced in 1967. 20 for racing and 200 were ordered and sold. It was a monster, and now Chevy admits it put our nearly 600 HP. So in 1966 there were only two big blocks offered, 390 and 425 HP.
