Ran on low oil :(

Asked by Slidey2 Mar 11, 2016 at 07:57 PM about the 1985 Toyota MR2

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I forgot to check the oil a couple weeks
after I got my oil change and ran it a few
days with low oil. Now there is a soft fast
knocking sound. What can I do to fix it if
there is a way?

This is not fixable without engine work being done, running low on oil scorches bearings, that would have to be replaced, change your oil again, but if you still have the knocking you will have to do a rebiuld.

4A-GE engines have a nominal oil capacity if allowed to get low, GAME OVER....Same for the MkIIs 5S-FE engines always seize or throw rods there mounted rotated on there crankshaft axis Any disruption in oiling be it oil level low or pump cavitation.. DONE
