I have just aquired a 1988 Toyota Camry Station Wagon, How Do I check to see if the Alarm system is Using the battery or Not? if So How much of a drain is there on a Battery?
Hi mate, the 88 model didn't come out with an alarm from factory so it must be an aftermarket alarm. It depends on wether the alarm has battery back-up, to test this, pop the bonnet up, set the alarm and open the door without disarming it, the alarm should go off. Disconnect the battery, if the alarm continues to go it has battery back-up. If you can't get the alarm to go off at all, theres something wrong with it. But either way back-up or not, it shouldn't draw that much current, I'd say there's a problem with the battery or altenator if it's going flat, check belt tension. Hope this helps.
