Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Driving down the road yesterday in my 94
Toyota pickup DLX 4x4 and all of the
sudden boom click click and a bunch of
vibration, my first thought was I had a blow
out, but got stopped went to put it in
reverse and nothing so I managed to get to
the foot of the hill and quickly realized my
rear drive shaft was barely in my transfer
case, took the rear drive shaft off and told
the ol lady we were gonna make it home
and she immediately asked how, I said
babe I still got four wheel drive went to
lock my hubs in put it in neutral and
engaged my four wheel drive into 4L and
put it in 1st gear and as bad as the ol lady
was wanting to get on back home the
second I let the clutch out of coarse
NOTHING!!.. Can anyone help me get to
the problem??

Ok, but quick question why'd the four wheel drive not engage afterwards just to get me back home?... Noticed to that the rear drive shaft back yoke u joints grease fitting was blown off and noticed that it was a shiny silver matalic looking paste almost everywhere behind the rear chunk.
