Hello Allyx-- The 1994 Toyota 4Runner came with a recirculating-ball steering system, which is common on a lot of trucks and SUVs. The 4Runner didn't get rack-and-pinion steering until 1996. For a good look at how your steering works, go to http://auto.howstuffworks.com/steering3.htm. I hope this info "steers" you in the right direction. Good luck from Bovan.

I have the same vehicle and the steering is jerky or sticky at times, and perfectly normal at others... what does that mean?
