Anyone out there interested in making a trade for a " Cherry " 73' GMC pickup via a C5 coupe ?
.. I have a 1973 GMC Custom Deluxe 1500 LWB, 2wd , 2nd owner, 46,773 actual miles, super straight true survivor .. NOT rebuilt or resto-mod. Very original.. I would like to do an even trade for a modest C5 ( 97'-- 04' ) Corvette Coupe...... Preferably Sebring Silver with light gray interior, automatic trans with stock painted top and /or glass top . NO salvage, flood or rebuilt title crap.... Higher mileage or slightly rough cosmetics, not a problem, just a good driver.... For more info see my ad here on Cargurus for " 1973 GMC C/K 10 "......... that truck got a big block in it?
Nope, sorry, but it does have a dang good runnin' 350/4V, 350 auto., PS,PB, but no AC..... This truck even still has the old style AC Delco Guide" Power Beam " headlights in it and they are still clear and still work !
Dream on dude. Who would trade a $20,000 to $28,000 Corvette for a truck that is offered in auto trader for $5,000 tops?
.. Well Ok, Just one person's uneducated opinion...
I do have two master's degrees and been a corvette owner and club member since 1965. If that is uneducated, so be it. You drive an old puck-up, and you want to trade up for a car that is newer and cost 3Xs what you paid for the truck new? Lay off the drugs. And no A/C? Come on!
Feast your eyes on this. Chevrolet will introduce the 2015 Corvette Z06 next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It will be the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features. The Corvette Z06 will complete Chevrolet’s performance car lineup, which will also see the addition of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, Camaro Z/28 and SS sedan. “Chevrolet is America’s favorite performance car brand, and for 2014 we are going to offer enthusiasts more choices than ever before,” said Alan Batey, senior vice president, Global Chevrolet. “No other manufacturer will be able to match the breath of performance cars from Chevrolet.” Chevrolet sells one out of four performance cars in 2013 For the first 11 months of 2013, Chevrolet has accounted for about 25 percent of all performance car sales in the U.S. as Corvette and Camaro continue to lead their respective segments. Corvette outsold its closest competitor, the Porsche 911, for the first 11 months of 2013. This is all the more remarkable given Corvette production was halted for six months as the Bowling Green, Ky., assembly plant prepared to build the 2014 Corvette Stingray. In November, Corvette sales jumped 229 percent year-over-year, as demand for the new Stingray continues to outstrip supply. Camaro also outsold its closest competitor, the Ford Mustang, for the first 11 months of 2013. Camaro enters December with a 4,093-unit lead in total sales. More importantly, Camaro has an estimated 10,000-unit lead in retail sales. If that lead continues through the end of the year, 2013 will be the fourth consecutive year Camaro has been the best-selling sports car in the U.S. Four new performance cars for 2014 The sales lead for Chevrolet is expected to accelerate as the brand adds four new performance cars to the lineup, including: First full calendar year of sales of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan: The all-new SS, which went on sale in October, is based on a race-proven, global platform that underpins the Camaro, Caprice police vehicle and, in Australia, the high-performance Holden VF Commodore. Elements including lightweight aluminum hood and deck lid panels help give the SS a nearly 50/50 weight balance, while the performance of its 6.2L V-8 – rated at 415 horsepower – and six-speed automatic transmission enable 0-60 mph acceleration in five seconds flat. First full year of sales of the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible: The Stingray Convertible, which goes on sale this month, shares identical chassis tuning and performance technologies with the coupe, with structural changes limited to accommodations for the folding top and repositioned safety belt mounts. As such, the Stingray Convertible requires no sacrifices for a drop-top driving experience, offering up to 460 horsepower /465 lb-ft with the available performance exhaust system; capable of more than 1 g in cornering; and sprinting from 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Arrival of the 2014 Camaro Z/28: The Camaro Z/28, which arrives in dealerships in the second quarter of 2014, will be the most track-capable Camaro ever. Recently, the Z/28 logged a 7:37.40 lap on Germany’s legendary Nürburgring road course, a time comparable with some of the world’s most prestigious sports cars – and the Z/28 lap was completed in the rain. Debut of the 2015 Corvette Z06: The all-new Corvette Z06 will make its public debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Production is expected to begin in late 2014.
... Gee whiz !~!~! .. WOW !~!~!~! ... Thank you so very much for your excellent advice ...... God , what would we do without mega-intelligent folks like you to help POOR ($) ignorant souls like me !~!~!~!~!
OK , Now seriously sir, when I said uneducated , I was simply trying to point out that there are quite a great many C5's out there that are similarly priced, in fair condition, to what I'm asking for my truck. After nearly 40 yrs. in the automotive business, I have seen a great many " fix-er-uppers", beat to hell and rebuilt from A to Izzard...... This very nice example is mostly/ 90+ % original, something you just don't run across everyday. ... Now you've gone and gotten all carried away with the newest units being offered. If those are in your price range, GREAT ! By all means buy yourself a freakin' entire fleet ! ... But for me and others like me , we have to do tha' best we can with what we've got to work with..... I'm sure you worked hard for your degrees and have reaped the benefits thereof , more power to you. I graduated from the school of hard knocks and have had to learn from my mistakes. I hope this discussion in this forum does not however become one more ...... And, so you will know, I also have been a Vette enthusiast since I was just a kid and bought my first( 63' fuelie conv) when I was 20, joined my local club in 1972 and am still an active member in our 2nd club that I was instrumental in starting back in Oct.1983.... Since my first, I've owned a 79' coupe, a black 84', a charcoal 88' coupe and, ... guess what ! ? ! ?.... That neat little Daytona Blue w/white rag top 63' is sitting comfortably in my garage right now and it also has the early " notched " original hardtop with the Sept. 62' date coded rear window still intact !~! ... It also is a survivor in it's own right as it has only had a minor reconditioning back in the mid-seventies and is a numbers matching car.. not any frame off restoration.... Now we could kick this crap back and forth forever , BUT, I've got things to do.. So as we say in our club, " Don't Forget To Save tha' Wave " and keep on Vette'in !~!~!~!~!~!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have a very merry Christmas season, and BTW, I have a PHD in hard knocks.
pretty hard Richards with preignition .... hmmmm , I d try some premium fuel with a little trimethyl benzene , a double dose of methycyclopentadienyl manganese, tricarbonyl and if it still knocks throw in a little heavy aliphatic resin and methanol .. easy on the methanol as it releases its oxygen molecules rapidy upon combustion ..... creating more hard knocks !! Now the question is ... what would we chemists do without our corvette owners ? BTW - L88's rock hard !!!
