why is my car leaking oil? I have to put 1-2 quarts in it a day. someone told me it was the gasket on the oil pan, and it would be around $8.00 to fix.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 97' Toyota Corolla. The only thing thats wrong is the massive oil leak. I
put at least 1 quart of oil in it a day. Some days 3-4 its very expensive to do this.I am
exploring the possibility of fixing it myself, so i need to know where it is, and what tools I
need.

You have to pinpoint the area or place it is leaking. It most probably is a gasket, maybe even the oil pan gasket. While the gasket might be inexpensive , replacing it might not be, if you have someone else do it. To replace you have to raise the vehicle and have the proper tools and equipment and knowledge to do so. You can purchase a service guide or look online for help.
