If there is a CEL, get the codes read. The plug wires might be bad. You could have a dead fuel injector. Check them with a stethoscope.

gerardmcrae - how do you know that a valve is bent? Nobody said anything about a timing belt breaking and valve bending. ---- More likely cause is a misfire from old plugs and wires.

If you changed the spark plugs and the wires if you have'nt you need to.here is a trick make sure the wires are not touching the moter check and see if the wires have any discoloration i call them

well you dont know bent valve yet either, it could also be a bad coil, sticking injector, or a vacuum leak causing a lean misfire, can be some rodent chewed through wire to coil or injector also is your sure it is just a misfire. if your not sure if it is just a misfire, then have the codes checked,
