Transmission ? Problem

Asked by Dec 02, 2009 at 04:21 PM about the 1998 Toyota Avalon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 98' Avalon just started doing this yesterday. When coming to a complete stop, it is as though the transmission does not unlock to idle, but suddenly jumps and makes a clunk sound, and then unlocks, then idles normally. Where do I start Looking?
Thanks,

Check your tranny fluid, sounds like the torque converter isn't disengaging or a valve in the tranny is sticking. If your good on fluid i would suggest having the tranny flushed and the filter changed.
