Question type: Shopping & Pricing

There's a 2002 Toyota Camry with 253k miles on it
for $3900. Is it worth that much? I was thinking
around $2000? Or is that too low. Please help?

That price is high unless it has a new engine in it. Offer less or keep shopping.

I have no way of knowing. A car with that many miles may be on deaths door step or since it is a Toyota it may be good for another 50,000 miles. How much do you drive? Have it checked out by a mechanic.

I do know that even if it was really clean and drove nice, $2,000 would be top dollar for me to pay.

I drive about 200miles a week for school. Thank you for your help!

If you limit your driving to 200 miles a week that is about 10,000 miles a year. How long do you need it and can you afford for it to die next week?

I can't afford for it to die next week! I'm trying to buy a car that will last me one year through college. My budget is not the best, so I know I won't find a nice car. This is tough not having any knowledge about cars

A high mile car is a gamble with the odds against you. If you do not have a budget for repairs do not buy it. If there is a major failure like the engine or transmission you might as well scrap it. Smaller maintenance and repair items like brakes will still run several hundred dollars.

68k is a lot better than a quarter millions miles! As always it depends on the condition and the price.

I was at a dealership and asking for $9900... but it will obviously be more financing it. Feel $9900 is a bit much for that car? I may be wrong and was a tad over dramatic
