2005 Prius Smart key locks/unlock doors but it must be in slot to start car, just having it in pocket doesn't work. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Replaced battery in remote, still the same prob

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Battery in remote replaced with new one, but still the same problem.  It is a smart key with the silver logo.  It worked originally but stopped working after the smart key remote battery died.  With new battery it locks/unlocks door as it should.  Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this problem.  Thanks.

If it was my car I would go to Toyota and get it programmed right. I cannot find anywhere how to program that year.
