my 1996 chevy 1500 4x4 5.7 will not run, its firing but no gas. i replaced the fuel filter and checked to see if the fuel pump was workin at the same time pump works..timin chain is not broke..runnin out of options..
First, try a 1-3 second blast of starting fluid into the air intake, then try to start your truck. If it starts up from the starting fluid, you know you have a fuel delivery problem. There may be a fuel pressure regulator that is causing problems. If the starting fluid produces no change in what's happening...its a good bet that you have an ignition/electrical issue.
I agree with Mark The fuel pump is in the tank the filter sock could have collapsed (thankyou ethanol) You may show some fuel but not enough to pass the regulator under pressure.
