1997 s10 stuck in gear

stuck in second gear took shifter off cant put in netral or any other gear i took picture and want to know if i broke or a pin fell out what is this hole for?? moves back and forth but thats all it will do..

If this is a standard trans,Drain the gear oil and open the side cover.You may have a roll pin that has broke on the shaft that moves the gears to mesh with the output shaft. Other possible cause ,if it was run low on gear oil that 2nd gear may have seized to the shaft so it can't slide out of the engaged position.
