i have a 2001 chevy s-10. when i turn it off my gas and temp gage go down then they go up 1/2 way again with the truck off????

Give a couple of thumps with your fist on top of the dashboard above the gages. Sometimes its just a matter of a loose or confused connection. But if the gages reset themselves when you start it and all works fine, I would not worry about it for the cost of the repair !

One other thing to try is to disconnect the battery positive cable for five minutes. It may be a surge to cause this problem. Let us know if any of this works, ok?

Was rolling in 5th gear going 60, heard aloud screeching noise and it threw us forward in the seat and slowed it immediately to about 40.I pulled off to the side of the road and smoke was coming from under the truck.I looked around and couldn't see anything visibly wrong.I started it up again just fine and started rolling in 1st gear, then I tried to shift to 2nd the truck just stopped and wouldn't go into any gear.At this point the truck will start but when I let the clutch out, it dies(in neutral). Had to remove my drive shaft to be towed on towrope because it wouldn't roll smooth in neutral. I have a 1987 Chevy Pickup with a crate engine. I start it and it runs for about 15 -20 seconds and then shuts off. I have replace the air intake hoses, fuel lines, fuel filter. When it was turned on then started to idle low i dumped gas into it and it shut off immediately. Could it be getting too much gas? Would that mean the carb is clogged possibly? 4 Answers
