why wont prelude start after sitting in heat fo a while

Asked by May 17, 2007 at 12:49 PM about the 1989 Honda Prelude

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my '89 prelude sometimes won't start after it has been sitting in full sun after driving for about 15 minutes. when trying to crank it, it sounds as if the car is out of gas, and seems to be getting no spark. In the morning (when cold) it never does this. what could be the problem?

It sounds like it may be a leaking check valve in your fuel pump. Here is a link to check out that discusses the problems of starting a car when hot: http://www.dmcnews.com/Techsection/hotstart.htm

check the main fuse it's an intermittent problem engine turns but does not fire

the problem is more your fuel cutoff relay. it is locate under the dashboard right about where your left knee meets the dash.
