I have a 1997 Honda CRV, bought it from new. It blows warm air when idling but cold air when I'm driving. Temperature gauge goes up when idling but totally down when moving. I added antifreeze as suggested by my mechanic but no help. Any suggestions??

I did more research on my own and found out that there was air in the radiator or hoses, I guess. What I did was take the cap off the radiator, turn the car on until it got hot, turned the heat on and then revved it up and watched the bubbles come out of the radiator. When the bubbles stopped, I put the cap back on and I've had heat ever since. So, my deduction was there was air in the lines somewhere. I didn't need a thermostat because I knew I had heat when I was idling. I hope this helps.
