Question type: Shopping & Pricing

There is a 07 Silverado 2500HD 6.0, the only thing is it has 196k miles on it. They are asking 8500 for it. Is it worth it? If I do decide to purchase it what should I look out for?

Wholesale book on that is 5-6k. I think u should talk them down 1,500. You need to check out the mechanical condition. Check for visable wear on the driver's side chair, carpet, steering wheel, pedals. The less those items are worn down the more likely majority of those miles are highway. I'm a buyer at dealer auctions for other people. What state are you in?

I'd try to talk them down some. The mileage is a little high. It's average (10 to 15 thousand per year) but on the high side. Pay attention to how the transmission, if automatic, behaves. My Sister has a '07 1500 LT she bought new. The transmission quit with less than 50,000 miles on the truck. Otherwise it's been a good truck. Look for signs that it's been beat on and run a vehicle history report such as Carfax. Look for accidents, multiple owners, etc. These are red flags and you should probably keep shopping. On a personal note I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a truck with nearly 200,000 miles on it. But that's just me. HTH. -Jim
