'06 Ford Escape XLT Engine Light On

Asked by benclark Aug 29, 2013 at 09:50 AM about the 2006 Ford Escape

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine light popped up recently and so I took it to the auto store to get the error codes.  The gave me PO161 and P2272 and from what I'm finding out it has to do with the oxygen sensors.  They seemed to think that it was the Bank 2 Sensor 2 and for the life of me can't determine where that's at.  I've had people tell me it's up front, in the back after the converter, on the passenger side blah blah blah but nothing pinpointed which one it actually is.  I replaced the one closest to the radiator and the light is still coming on so I replaced another one on the passenger side before the catalytic converter and the light is still on.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Found it and also found that a squirrel had chewed through the wiring. Yep, the wiring from the harness and it made for a very irritating repair but saved some major cash by doing it myself. Fixed her up and turned it over and the check engine light turned right off. Thanks for the confirmation on the Bank 2 location. Onward.
