Ford F150 drive shaft dislocated at joint under cab. Stillconnected but looks like elbow pointing down and can't drive with big grinding sound. Any suggestions?
Not costly. Sounds like the universal joint has come apart. Replace both the front and rear. If one is worn out, the other is soon to follow. On a side note, be thankful. Pre-1968 models didn't have a provision to prevent the driveshaft from falling to the road, bending in half, and coming through the floor. People have gotten killed by that happening! Part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Act of 1966 was to put a "catch" under the front of the driveshaft. HTH. -Jim
