you can put a small or a big block, in a 1970 small 260/289/302/351w to a 351c/390/427/428/429/460

For 1970, Ford put either engine in the cars on the assembly line. The plant determined which engine and consequently which pieces needed to finish assembly. Unless it was special ordered a certain way.Dimensionally, they aren't much different. The motor mounts and bellhousing holes all line up.The flywheel for the specific engine must be used,as the radiator and hoses. Also, the engine wiring harness for the corresponding engine must be used. A complete donor engine with all accessory brackets makes it a breeze, unless you plan on a new serpentine-type system. Hope this helps!! Good luck!
