tire size rec. for 1968 mustangs
I have purchased 15/7 Mag. 500 wheels for my 1968 conv. restoration project. what is your recommendation for the best tire size. 215/65, 225/60 or 235/60 ?
me personaly,my choice would be the 215/65, but it is your car all would look good but dont go to wide you know rubing.
It depends on if you are upgrading suspension , and how you want the vehicle to handle and look. Slightly larger and wider tires for the rear , and smaller thinner tires for the front are what I prefer. I would go 70 series , or 65 series for the front and 50's for the rear . Size depends on how tall you want the tires to be , and how much room you have. 255/50/15 for rear , and 235/65/15 for the front tires ( that's just off the top of my head, but it gives you an idea ) Tire shops will have basic measurements of the size of the tire ( height, and width ) from there you can calculate what will look good .
I always put big and wide (not too big and wide) on the back and small and skinny on the front (not too skinny on the front). It gives it a mean stance and helps with driveability.
Depends on what you are doing with the suspension. I dropped my 68 GT350 down an inch on both ends. Put 245/60/15's all around and the front ones hit the fender lip on the highway when I hit a dip. Ended up replacing the front tires with 215/65/15's. An inch narrower and half an inch smaller diameter. looks nice. The front is about a half an inch lower.
