is anybody putting 4.6l in a 68

got pony car for wedding present i want to put in a 4.6 questions are enough room w/o major mods ,motor mounts ,X-member ect...

Hi pat8273, There will be some mods required in order to perform this engine swap and engine mounts are the least of your worries. I would join a real Mustang Forum and get up to speed with what would be required. Good luck!

that would be a lot of work with an even higher price tag. you should put a built 331 in it, or even a 302 with heads cam and a intake, i would not use the 4.6, even though you can put a carb. on it now with some after market manifolds. you'd get more power out of the lighter cheaper pushrod motors.


With some fabrication to the shock towers and motor mounts that are cheap to buy you can put a modular or any 4.6 in it...but I doubt it's wise...old engines are MUCH easier to work on.


the 4.6 will be heavier then pretty much any other v8, and really wouldnt be that much more powerful. best off to stick with and older small block ford
