what is the proper oil pressure for a 350?
depends on your oil pump and weight of oil used.
forevery 1000 rpms you should have 10 psi oil pressure atleast is the rule, so 3000 rpms = 30psi
1st guys right
they're both right. the second guy has the generic minimum as per GM's recommendation. the pressure will fluctuate depending on type of oil, weight of oil, and rpm. when you hear knocking, you'll know there wasn't enough pressure. my 99 350 idles at 15 and runs at 40 normally. my 96 lt1 idles at 40 and ran at 60. its all relative.
why yes. all gen 3 motors idle at 40 and upon acceleration up to 60.
well all 350s were the same for many years with slight changes so.........at lease 40 lbs and no less should be fine if ur running either 5w30 or 10w30....if at that level should be fine
i agree with the other guy saying that it depends, i have a 1970 model year 350 and its recommended for it to run between 35-50 psi, i know generally newer motors run a little higher pressure
