my att. is not chargeing my batt. and the att .is new just get it but i run the 82 camaro and when i go to restart it its dead HELP !!!
yes I have not been able to find out what is going on with my 82 Camaro the att. is new and when I run the car the batt goes dead and I turn the car off and it does not start until I charge the batt up over night so please help !!!
If all connections are good check the fuseable link in the main wire from alternator to battery. Here is a picture of my 85. Yours should be similar.
Trace the wire shown above back to the battery. The link should be within about 12 inches of the battery. Look at base of ruler in this picture and you can see mine.
Also check the output voltage on the alternator. It should be around 14.5 volts. Test it at battery and right at alternator. If not showing it at battery but it is showing right at alternator check all battery connections, fuseable link and the negative battery connections on the frame and motor.
did you check the belts? if they aren't tight, the alternator won't turn fast enough to build up a charge in the battery or power the car.
