My 1997 has a gas smell inside the cabin when parked and fully closed.

Have your evaporative emissions system checked, also have your fuel-injectors and fuel pressure regulator checked as well as the fuel lines in the engine compartment. May as well also have your gas tank checked for leaks as a gas smell is NO GOOD!
