I just recently bought a 78 camaro. The guy had put a new 350 crate engine in it about 2 years ago. How could I figure out what engine it is exactly, so i can figure things out like oil,and compresion

A V8 350 was available for your car. I'd assume, unless a casting number proves differently, that it's an original equipment type engine. If you have the rebuilder's part number that will tell you as well. HTH. -Jim
