I just acquired a 1971 camaro and would like to find out some information....
The car is a 350 2bbl with air and a auto on the column no console.. The car has had no modifications...She purchased the car new and has the build sheet along with all the original documents at time of purchase...I have not seen a 71 with auto on the column.. Could someone tell me if this is a rare purchase or where i could find out information on this car.. Thanks for your time
Cars could be custom-ordered back in the day. You can get some information from the GM Historical Services Department, for about $75 they will provide you with lots of information about your vehicle from their files. However, I wouldn't call it necessarily rare, just a special order -- back then, car mfgs. would make changes to make the customer happy, whereas nowadays "what's on the lot is what you've got."
column shifter was standard equiptment.
