My 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle has a series designator of 33 in the VIN....which means it's not a Malibu, right? However, the car has "Malibu" emblems on it. What gives?

Yeah that's what I think too. You can buy Malibu emblems at most any car show even E-bay has them.
