I have a question about my tranny on my '87 iroc camero?
When I bought my Camero They told me that the transmition was rebuilt.. One month after I changed all my fluids.. On the
tranny to I changed the filter and gasket..then when I took it for a ride it started sliping on th drive gear but not on the other
gears.. it will take off on 2 gear and also it wont go all the way down to rirst gear it wont lock in.... so im lost, can you help did i
mess u the tranny?
Sounds like you got some contaminates in your transmission. When you put the gasket on did you make sure not to use gasket maker (silicone)? It can be rebuilt, but not to much else. Probably one of the bands popped off or one of the gears is out. Either way I would not drive it until it is fixed, you could damage your engine.
does it make noises when trying to go into first? or is it just your shifer linkege that needs adjusted mine dosnt leave much room for first so it has to be just right... also by only slipping in the drive gear do you mean it slips in 1st 2nd and 3rd when itd in drive or over drive? and dosnt slip if you choose the gear manualy? and the obvious did you put all the tranny fluid in and check it hot when running? mine took 11 quarts i think, mabey close too 12
