I need a spare key without breaking the bank

Asked by Nov 20, 2014 at 05:27 PM about the 2001 Toyota RAV4

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to get a spare key and remote.  Where can I purchased theses items?  I can't afford
to spend to much, on a tight budget with the holidays around the corner.  You see I just
purchased this veh. and the private owners didn't have a spare or remote, just 1 key!  My
veh. is a 2001 Toyota Rav4, if you need to know. I hope someone can please help me out.
I will be in BIG trouble if I accidentally lock this only 1 key in the car. Please help.   :   (

See the link I will put on the end to make it easy to hyperlink. You are going to have to get it (them) cut and programmed, there is a way to program it yourself, I will have to look for it. http://www.autotransponder.com/2001_toyota_rav4_key_blank_transponder_chip?gclid=CIWTiIyeisICFc6Cfgod5zIA7A

OK it says if you buy the key from them they will include programming instructions . Cool But you have to copy it first, but that's just cutting it, cheap to do that. There is always the dealer, but I'm sure you know, will cost you X2

Thank you all so much for your help and info. You all are the greatest! Keep up the good job. I have one more question. Is a Fwd Rav4 as good as a AWD?

It's every bit as good, unless you must drive on ice/snow a lot, but in general the same. Maybe even better, less drive-train components to deal with if you don't need AWD no reason to have it
