Problem - Transmission, Engine, Battery? - Looking for some type of diagnosis

Asked by Apr 07, 2008 at 11:00 AM about the 2001 Toyota 4Runner

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, I think I am an idiot and I want to know how much damage I caused to my car.

Last night, I was backing out of a parking spot in my 2001 4Runner (automatic) and didn't let the transmission engage before accelerating. The Runner jerked and then died.

Now everytime I turn it on, it idles a little, then powers down. I am going to get the battery checked this evening.

Anyone have an idea of what I may have down. Thrown a rod, trashed the transmission or is just a battery/alternator issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have this checked out, it's probably not a major issue, I'm sure you didn't throw a rod (you'd have known if you did that) and I doubt you trashed the transmission.
