I can't stop oil leak at oil cooler on top of the oil filter. Can it be bypassed and just install oil filter

I installed new o ring on oil cooler and still get small oil trickle down on to the oil filter

Are you torquing it down too tight? Maybe it's the oil cooler housing gasket?
