10W30 or 10W40?

Asked by maxwelljesus Feb 01, 2007 at 01:36 PM about the 1991 Pontiac Le Mans

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Should I fill the engine with 10W30 or 10W40 motor oil during an oil change?

1 Answer

Hi maxwelljesus! Generally speaking you should usually go with the manufacturer's recommended oil grade (check your owners manual or call your local dealer), but in the absence of that info you probably go with the 10w30 although either would be a safe choice. Good luck!
