Rusty nuts and bolts...what are some good methods to get them off of a 92 Firebird ti-bar...WD-40 soaked for several days has not made a difference...a method or product name from a Geru would be appreciated
well you can use a little muriatic acid (from pool supply store) will look shiny and nice then...but will RUST IMMEDIATELY...so has to be flushed with alcohol, then painted immediately...this is the only way I know other than mechanical removal with a brass wirebrush~
what's a Geru~?
PB penetrating catalyst works but is smelly and hard to remove~
I prefer croil oil or liquid wrench. Let set, wire brush exposed threads if possible and quick bursts from 1/2 inch drive impact wrench if possible always seems to work for me.
PB good also
Dandy, are you a Geru~?
have you found 3 in 1 oil to be an absolutely useless concoction....animal, vegetable, and mineral....the three of which combined is guaranteed to gum up the worx~
Not to sure about the Geru. But I do stay away from 3 in 1
Oh also if the heads of the nuts and bolts are stripped and a wrench wont stay on them there is a stripped nut removal set that you can buy at your local auto parts store that works great. Not sure how I ever survived with out one of them.
