My car turns over but will not start, it is getting fuel
I have a 96 Pontiac Bonneville, it has a new battery and gets fuel. My inside gages are bouncing. ive tried all the fuses, it trns over but will not start...
Check for spark. Remove one plug wire, stick a screwdriver in the end of the wire. While wearing HEAVY rubber gloves hold the screwdriver, by the handle, close (about 1/4 inch away) to something metal that's attached to the engine. or the engine itself. have a helper crank the engine. You should see a rythmic spark jump from the screwdriver each time the engine turns over. If you've got good spark & fuel run a compression test. If the car has high mileage, could be a "jumped" timing chain. This will be evidenced by low compression on all cylinders. HTH -Jim
