Loud Air Sound When I Hit Brake
I got new brake pads, had my brakes
bled, new brake lines, changed the
master cylinder and STILL I hear loud
air when I hit the brake pedal. It even
does it if my car Is off. My brakes also
go all the way to the floor? They won't
stop neither and even in park or at a
red light my cars RPM shoot up with
out even hitting gas. I'm tired of trying
to figure out the problem can anyone
give me advice? I have a 99 Pontiac
Also I got told I need new brake booster? But who knows at this point.
This is brake booster and uses a lot of vacuum. If vacuum hose has come off you will hear a massive vacuum leak,---'air sound'-- image will size up
the booster has a diaphragm that could be ruptured, inside
Okay do u think all I need to do is replace the whole booster and it will be good to go?
Well can't say that for sure.. a failed booster would not cause brake pedal to go to floor.... you will still have brakes but not with vacuum booster assist. Was only addressing the 'air noise'
I can understand your frustration... sorry I was no more help but a vacuum leak can cause the engine to rev up as you describe
Check and make sure your booster vacuum hose house running from your intake to your brake booster is hooked up and doesnt have any cracks in it.
I'm getting a air leak sound coming from under the brake pedal i here it could be a circle rubber peice behind the master cylinder and a friend told me i might need to replace the master cylinder to what should I do Chevy Impala 04
