What would cause my 2000 pontiac grand prix to fall on its face when gas is pressed

Could be a number of things. The first things to check would be throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor, coolant temperature sensor, and intake air temperature sensor. Is your service engine soon light on? HTH. -Jim
