Asked by Mar 23, 2010 at 10:39 AM about the 2002 Pontiac Grand Am

Question type: General

Wondering what the difference was. Have bought a Grand Am SE with motor blown and searching for engine have been seeing SE1's listed. Also wondering if the motors are interchangeable between the two.

The motors are the same on all the Grand Am models. The GT's are rated a little higher due to the "Ram Air" intake but it really doesn't make a difference.

the engine is the same the only difference is that the gt goes up to 140 m/p/h and the se doesnt

False the grand am's are all limited between 115 and 120

And yes all the engine are interchangeable but if it had a four cylinder first you'd have to get a the transmission for the engine
