why does my transmission slip

Asked by Oct 12, 2014 at 01:32 AM about the 1990 Nissan Stanza

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Shifting from first to second gear, the transmission does not shift until high rpm (around
5000). Shifts sluggishly from second to third gear. Overdrive is almost nonexistent
during freeway driving and requires use of d2 range if I am forced to slow down for any
reason. Overdrive feels spongy

Could be time for a rebuild. Have it diagnosed by a reputable trans shop.

Thank you for the advice Tom.
