Is there any head, valve or piston damage with a
broken timing belt on a 97 Nissan Pathfinder?

The Nissan V6 is an interference engine. If the timing belt breaks the valves hit the pistons and serious damage is done. So if it does break one thing is for sure that it will have valve damage, if the engine speed is in the upper range then broken pistons have also happened effectively ruining the engine block. The cost to replace the belt is around $1000 depending upon where you live and what else has to be replaced along with the timing belt.
