Why is my stereo still on when my car is off

I have a 1991 lexus ls400 and i added
a system in the car with a 1000 walt
amp and the battery keeps dieing and
when i turn the car off the radio still
plays its still on i turn it off and take
the face off but the battery still dies

Put a switch inline on the power cable to the amp....maybe by the fuse. Inconvenient...? yeah, but not as inconvenient a a dead battery
