2001 maxima car will jump start then shut off when cables are removed
all the dash lights came on the the car died while driving. now it will jump but it dies when i take the jumper cables off?
Couple be that the battery has a shorted cell. What is the voltage on the battery with the engine off? Test it with a voltmeter.
check the water level in the battery check what the voltsis when the car is not running should be at least 13 volts
I would think your battery isn't strong enough to hold a charge, so probably time for a new one
By the way engine off 12.6v is where the battery should be. It can handle to be down to 12v. Most likely your alternator has died, causing your car to run off the battery and slowly kill it too. Both will most likely need replaced. Once a battery goes completly dead it isnt ever the same, if it will work again at all.
I just replaced the battery on a 2001 Nissan Maxima, we had to pull out the alarm sensor to do so. Once replaced all went back to normal except the tail/break lights. They won't shut off. For now we removed the brake light sensor but how can it be fixed permanently?
