CEL, oil and battery light turned on right before my car turned off. Now there is a loud knocking noise.
My car was having trouble accelerating for about a week before it lost power while on the hwy. Towed it to a mechanic and turns out it was low on oil and needed the catalytic converters replaced. Got that done but there was still trouble accelerating. Took it to pep boys where they did a tune up & removed and replaced the ignition coil. CEL disappeared and ran smooth for a day. On the hwy again, the car started losing power and completely died out right after all the lights turned on. I gave it a couple of mins before I turned on the car again & was able to drive it to a gas station but it now has a knocking noise when I start it up. Pep boys looked at it again and codes P0011, P1135 and P0021 show up & they're suggesting that the I need a whole new engine. Can anyone help me!? This is so frustrating. I take in my car for one problem only to pay for more problems
P0011 is intake valve timing controller over advanced (that's why it's knocking), P1135 is valve timing controller circuit, and P0021 is valve timing performance. The engine is knocking because the valve timing is excessively advanced due to the advance controller not working properly. I'd advise taking your Nissan to a repair facility that specializes in imports or back to the dealer for proper repairs. Doesn't sound like you need a new engine, just to have the valve timing problem (controller) repaired. HTH. -Jim
