May be bad water pump, stuck thermostat,or leak.if you have plenty of fluid in you radiator?
your rad should have coolant in it mixed with water at a proper ratio ;where I live it's 50/50 and the system needs CLEAN fluid to operate properly. Ask a mechanic (unless you know someone else) to check your coolant quality. You may need to drain the cooling system. Also the rad can get rusted (all those tiny fins) and not leak out yet but because the cooling surface is degraded it's not doing it's job. That's just a couple of more things to visually peek at.
Just in case. NEVER UNDUE THE RAD CAP to check fluid until it's stone cold.
reverse flush radiator m& install new coolant check thermostat
